How to Create a Texture Plate
A Texture Plate is used to give your paper a look of an embossed surface.
1. Create a new image 3600 x 3600 pixels, 300ppi
2. In your Layer Manager - duplicate your Base Image
Right-Click on Background and choosse "Duplicate" from the menu
3. Select the Texture Tool from your Toolbox. Located in the Fill Tool (default is the paint can)
Click on the little triangle next to the paint can and then select Texture Fill Tool
4. On the Attribute Toolbar, choose the Natural Texture category from the drop-down menu:. Alternatively, you can use your own image file by clicking Select other texture, then selecting any JPEG or BMP file stored on your computer.

5. Adjust the size of the texture fill Resize Freely to adjust the texture's size as needed.
6. For our lesson, choose FabricGray.jpg from your Materials Folder.
Note: The default location of your Materials Folder in Vista is:
C:\Program Files\Ulead Systems\Ulead PhotoImpact 12\MATERIAL
7. Drag on the frame of the box to resize the texture.

8. For a Texture plate to work properly in Digial Scrapbooking, you want your texture to be as close to a 50% gray possible. To achieve this. Draw a small rectangle on top of your texture plate and fill with 50% gray..

9. Make sure your Texture layer (Obj-1) is selected and hit Ctrl + E to bring up the Hue & Saturation window. Note: or Photo > Color > Hue and Saturation.
10. Adjust the Lightness until the 50% gray rectangle blends with the texture.

11. Delete the 50% rectangle and save your new Texture plate as a JPG. Note: Use the Save As option, NOT THE SAVE FOR WEB in the More Save Options. You want to keep the high resolution.
